Slow and Steady

crossing out runned and replacing it with ran,

he took a drink of the swirling black liquid,

his lip getting caught on the chip in the rim

of his favourite mug, as his glasses filled with steam.

His red pen danced amongst the markings on the page.

This story was a marked improvement compared to her last.

And he knew the next one would be even better.
